Being a Phonathon caller is hard but somebody has to do it. This semester alone, UMW Phonathon callers raised over $350,000 dollars for the Fund for Mary Washington which supports vital programs and departments that empower students.

Every job I have ever worked has had some form of customer service, but never has my job been to ask for donations. I have seen people become irritated over simple matters, so I cannot imagine the abuse you probably go through on the bad calls. I can honestly say working in a “call center” would not be on my dream list, so I definitely owe you gratitude for doing that for our benefit. Hearing from someone making those types of calls definitely makes me realize that I could have more patience and respect with other callers.
